Crispy Fried Mushrooms Panko (Print-Friendly Version)

Juicy mushrooms coated in panko, fried until crisp and golden. Irresistible for sharing or savoring solo.

# Ingredients:

01 - 1 ¼ cups panko breadcrumbs
02 - 1 ½ teaspoons Old Bay Seasoning
03 - 1 teaspoon marjoram
04 - ½ teaspoon garlic powder
05 - ½ teaspoon kosher salt
06 - ¼ teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
07 - 1 cup buttermilk
08 - 1 ½ lbs white button mushrooms, stems trimmed
09 - ½ cup all-purpose flour
10 - Vegetable oil for frying

# Steps:

01 - In a small bowl, mix together the panko breadcrumbs, Old Bay seasoning, marjoram, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Set aside. Pour the buttermilk into another small bowl.
02 - Wash and thoroughly dry the white button mushrooms, then trim the stems. Place them in a zipper storage bag and add flour. Seal the bag and shake to coat the mushrooms evenly. Dip each mushroom in the buttermilk, ensuring it is fully coated, then roll it in the seasoned panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
03 - Heat vegetable oil in a Dutch oven, heavy pot, or fryer to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Carefully add a few breaded mushrooms at a time, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry until the mushrooms are golden brown and crispy, approximately 2-3 minutes per batch. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried mushrooms to paper towels to drain excess oil.
04 - Serve the Crispy Fried Mushrooms hot with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ranch dressing, marinara, or garlic aioli.
