Coat a square 9x9-inch pan with cooking spray. Put a sheet of foil or parchment inside, leaving extra hanging over the edges. Spray it again lightly.

Melt the butter in a big pot over medium. Once it starts bubbling and tiny golden flakes appear at the bottom, pull it off the heat.

Toss 8 cups of marshmallows into the buttery mixture, then mix until smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract and the salt.

In a large mixing bowl, pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the Rice Krispies. Stir to combine. While still warm, gently mix in the 2 cups of marshmallows you kept aside.

Take half the cereal mix and press it firmly into your prepped pan. Spread the dulce de leche in an even layer on top, then press the rest of the cereal on. Allow it to cool at room temp before cutting.
