Adjust your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a large 9×13-inch dish.

Stir together the sour cream, cream of chicken soup, melted butter, garlic powder, paprika, plus some salt and pepper in a big bowl. Blend it thoroughly.

Place half of the potato slices at the bottom of the greased dish. Add half of the sliced sausage along with half of the onion bits. Pour on half of the creamy mixture and sprinkle on a cup of shredded cheddar.

Do another layer using the rest of the potatoes, sausage, onions, creamy sauce, and shredded cheese.

Use foil to cover the dish and set it in the oven for 40 minutes.

Take the foil off and keep it in the oven for another 15-20 minutes or so, until the cheese melts and you can easily pierce the potatoes.

Sprinkle fresh parsley over the dish (if you like), then serve it warm.
