01 -
Turn your oven on to 350°F. Line a 9×13 pan with foil and spray it lightly with some cooking oil so the cake doesn't stick to it later.
02 -
Check the box for the instructions on your Devil's Food cake mix. Usually, you'll need eggs, water, and oil. Stir everything together until smooth, then pour the batter into your prepared pan.
03 -
Place the pan into your preheated oven and follow the baking time on the box. Keep an eye on it—check the cake a few minutes before the box says it's done since it might bake faster.
04 -
While the cake's in the oven, mix the sweetened condensed milk and caramel topping in a bowl until they combine nicely.
05 -
When the cake is fresh out of the oven and still warm, use the blunt end of a wooden spoon to poke about 60 holes across the top. Try to spread them out evenly.
06 -
Pour your milk-and-caramel mixture over the holes you just made. Go slow to make sure it gets into every one of those little spots.
07 -
Stick the cake in the fridge for around 10 minutes to let it cool a bit before you move on.
08 -
Grab the whipped topping and spread it over the cake evenly. Sprinkle the pecans and mini chocolate chips on top so that every piece gets some goodness.
09 -
Cover the cake and leave it in the fridge to set up. A couple of hours will do the trick, but if you can, leave it there overnight for the best flavor.
10 -
Before serving, give it a drizzle of salted caramel sauce over the top. Slice it into squares and watch everyone enjoy their first bite!
