Gooey Lucky Charms Bars (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ What You'll Need for the Treats

01 - 1 cup of Rice Krispies cereal
02 - 6 cups of Lucky Charms cereal
03 - ½ cup of butter (unsalted), with extra for the pan
04 - 16 oz of marshmallows (use big or small)
05 - ½ teaspoon of salt
06 - 1 teaspoon of vanilla

# Instructions:

01 - Coat a 9x9 pan with butter or cooking spray. If you'd like, add parchment paper to make removing the treats easier. The size of the pan changes the thickness: a smaller dish gives chunky pieces, while a bigger one makes them thinner.
02 - Grab a big microwave-safe bowl, cover it lightly with cooking spray, and toss in the marshmallows. Heat them up in 30-second bursts until they're soft and fluffy. If you prefer the stovetop, warm them in a large pot instead.
03 - Toss the salt and butter into the gooey marshmallows. Mix it all until it's completely smooth. Want an easier time? Coat your spatula or spoon with spray or a little oil to keep things from sticking.
04 - Set aside some colorful marshmallows from the Lucky Charms for a topper. Add the rest of the Lucky Charms and Rice Krispies, a bit at a time, to the melted mixture. Stir well to coat everything.
05 - Move the cereal-mallow mix to your prepared dish and press it down evenly. Use a greased spatula or even your hands (sprayed or buttered up) to press it into every corner.
06 - Sprinkle over the saved Lucky Charms marshmallows before the mix cools off. Let everything sit at room temperature till it's firm, or pop it in the freezer for 20 minutes if you're in a rush.
07 - Run a knife around the edges to loosen it up, then lift out the whole block. Cut into 9 squares, and dig in or put them away for later.

# Notes:

01 - If left overnight, the marshmallows soften a bit for great texture.
02 - Keep in a sealed container or wrap each piece in plastic to keep fresh for 3 days.
03 - Skip the fridge—cold temps will turn them rock-hard.
04 - Want precision? Use a kitchen scale: 1 ounce equals 28 grams.
