Green Beans with Bacon (Print-Friendly Version)

Flavorful green beans combined with smoky bacon, sautéed onions, and garlic in a rich broth. Tastes just like your favorite side!

# Ingredients:

→ Main Ingredients

01 - 1/2 cup chicken broth, unsalted
02 - 1 tablespoon garlic, finely chopped
03 - 6 pieces of bacon, diced up
04 - 2 cans green beans (16 ounces each), rinsed and drained
05 - 1/2 cup white onion, diced

→ Seasonings

06 - 1 teaspoon sugar (granulated)
07 - 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
08 - 1 tablespoon butter
09 - 1/2 teaspoon salt
10 - 1 tablespoon vinegar (red wine)

# Steps:

01 - In a large skillet, warm it over a medium-high flame. Stir the bacon bits frequently and cook them until they’re crispy—should take 5-6 minutes.
02 - Toss the chopped onion in with the bacon. Let it soften up for roughly 5 minutes, stirring here and there.
03 - Mix in green beans, garlic, chicken broth, butter, vinegar, sugar, pepper, and salt. Stir everything together until combined.
04 - Turn the heat way down, pop a lid on, and let it all simmer. Stir here and there until the green beans become soft, around 10 minutes.
05 - Taste it, adjust any seasonings if you'd like, and serve it right away while it’s warm.

# Notes:

01 - Use a low-carb sweetener if keto-friendly is the goal.
02 - Canned green beans provide the most traditional flavor.
03 - Check salt levels carefully if you’re using standard chicken broth.
