Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly coat a baking dish or a rimmed sheet with a bit of oil or spray.

Carefully slice the buns horizontally, keeping the whole block intact. Pop the bottom half into your prepared dish.

Spread the marinara across the bottom buns. Sprinkle half the shredded mozzarella, lay down all the pepperonis, then top with the remaining cheese. Finish by placing the top half of the rolls on top.

In a small bowl, stir together the melted butter, garlic powder, oregano, and chili flakes (if using). Brush this mix generously over the top of the buns.

Cover your dish with foil and bake for about 15 minutes until the cheese is gooey. Then, remove the foil and continue baking another 5 minutes to crisp up the tops.

Sprinkle Parmesan and basil leaves over the buns. Let them cool for a tiny bit, slice into individual sliders, and serve with extra marinara on the side for dunking.
