Strawberry Heart Cookies (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Shortbread

01 - 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
02 - 60g granulated sugar
03 - 125g soft, unsalted butter
04 - ¼ teaspoon of fine table salt
05 - 180g white, all-purpose flour

→ Filling and Glaze

06 - 1 teaspoon of melted unsalted butter
07 - 2 tablespoons of fresh strawberry puree
08 - 170g strawberry preserves or jam
09 - 110g powdered confectioners’ sugar
10 - 30ml of milk

# Instructions:

01 - Beat together the butter, sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Toss in the flour and salt, then mix 'til it forms a dough.
02 - Roll the dough out to a quarter-inch thickness, then use heart-shaped cutters. Chill what you’ve made for 30 minutes.
03 - Pop them in the oven at 170°C for about 10-12 minutes, just until the edges are golden brown. Let cool completely.
04 - Whisk the icing sugar, strawberry puree, butter, and milk into a silky glaze.
05 - Coat one half of each cookie in the glaze. Spread some strawberry jam on the plain cookies, then sandwich them together.

01 - Cookies can be frozen before decorating them
02 - Chilling the dough is essential
03 - These keep for about a week if stored in a container
