Cheese Danishes (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Pastry Dough Base

01 - 8 tablespoons brown sugar, lightly packed
02 - 2 cans (8 oz each) crescent roll dough
03 - 2 tablespoons melted salted butter

→ Sweet Cream Filling

04 - 1 block (8 oz) softened cream cheese
05 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, pure
06 - ¼ cup white sugar

→ Drizzle Topping

07 - ½ cup icing sugar
08 - 4 teaspoons milk or as needed
09 - 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

# Instructions:

01 - Set your oven to 350°F (177°C). Spray a baking tray lightly with your favorite non-stick spray.
02 - Beat the softened cream cheese with sugar and vanilla in a bowl until everything's smooth. Leave it aside for now.
03 - Open up both cans of dough and separate out 8 rectangles (4 from each). Pinch together the triangle edges to make solid shapes.
04 - Spread melted butter evenly over each rectangle. Sprinkle each piece with a tablespoon of brown sugar, covering the surface well.
05 - Roll each rectangle tightly from the long side. Seal the edges, twist into spirals, and tuck the ends underneath. Press gently in the middle to make a space for the filling.
06 - Put the spirals onto your baking tray, leaving about 2 inches between them. Add 2 tablespoons of the cream filling into each center. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes until golden and puffy.
07 - While they bake, mix the powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk in a bowl until smooth enough to drizzle. Add a bit more milk if it feels too thick.
08 - Take the danishes out and let them rest for 5 minutes. Drizzle the icing on top while still warm and enjoy right away for the best flavor.

# Notes:

01 - Add an egg yolk to the cream filling for a richer texture.
02 - They're tastiest fresh and warm but can be stored and warmed up later.
03 - For a fruity flavor, mix in a teaspoon of citrus zest to the filling.
